Compared with ChatGPT Voice, Gemini, Copilot and Siri in the car

By Daniil, founder of CallMyDesk · Checked on October 8, 2026

The four big assistants will read your email, summarize it and draft a reply hands-free. None of them will send that reply without you looking at the screen first, each works inside one company's apps, and each needs its app on a smartphone. CallMyDesk is narrower, and it is built for exactly that gap.

What each does hands-free today

Everything in this table comes from the platforms' own announcements and support pages, checked on October 8, 2026. It changes often; the date is there so you can judge it.

Unlimited calls and texts between you and your assistant for normal individual business use. To keep pricing flat for everyone we may apply fair-use limits, currently a soft ceiling of 1,000 assistant-minutes per seat per month, and we'll contact you before any limit affects your service.

Where each one stops, in its own words

ChatGPT Voice

On September 23, 2026 OpenAI gave Voice access to connected apps: Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. You can ask for free slots, add an appointment, search your email and check for replies, all by talking to the app. Sending is treated as a higher-risk action. OpenAI's own wording is that Voice will prompt you to review it on screen, and that spoken approval is not supported. The phone line, 1-800-CHATGPT, is still live for callers in the US and Canada, with 15 free minutes a month, but it is chat only: it cannot see your inbox or calendar. There is no CRM connection, and the admin controls sit on the Enterprise and education plans.

Gemini

Gemini runs in Android Auto in more than 250 million vehicles and in cars from 16 manufacturers with it built in. In the car it will summarize Gmail, draft a reply (including one with your arrival time), and work your Calendar, Tasks and Keep. Gemini Spark, announced on May 19, 2026, is the always-on version that works in the background across Gmail, Calendar, Docs and Drive. Google says Spark will ask your permission before sending an email on your behalf. Spark is US only and sits on the AI Pro and Ultra plans. Gemini needs an Android phone or a compatible car, does not write to a CRM, and cannot be phoned. On September 24, 2026 Google began testing Call for Me on the Pixel 11, which places calls to businesses for you; it is outbound only.

Microsoft 365 Copilot

Copilot arrived on Apple CarPlay on September 11, 2026. Microsoft's support page describes what you can do there as getting quick answers, preparing for meetings, catching up on emails and messages, and brainstorming, and notes that some features may not be supported in CarPlay. The September 2026 Outlook update lets you triage by natural language (delete, move, categorize) with confirmation prompts in the app. We found no documentation of sending an email by voice from the car. Copilot works on Microsoft data with a Microsoft 365 license; the only CRM it reaches is Dynamics 365.

Siri (iOS 27)

Apple showed the new Siri on June 8, 2026 and put it in beta with iOS 27 on September 14, 2026. It is built with Google's Gemini models, understands personal context across Messages, Mail and Photos, can act across apps and can draft an email. In the car it runs through CarPlay for Apple's own apps. It is iPhone only, works with Apple Mail rather than a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace mailbox, has no CRM connection, and cannot be phoned.

Sending an email

No. As of October 8, 2026 ChatGPT Voice cannot send an email by voice; it prompts you to review the message on screen, and OpenAI states that spoken approval is not supported. Gemini Spark asks on screen too, and neither Copilot in CarPlay nor Siri documents a voice send.

That is the whole difference, and it is a deliberate one. The big platforms are used by hundreds of millions of people for everything, so they put a screen between you and anything that leaves your account. CallMyDesk does one narrower job, for one person, on one line, so it can do the check by voice instead: it reads the reply back, and sends it when you say so.

Call with CallMyDesk Call length On the car's Bluetooth
  1. You said: “Reply to Sarah: yes to Tuesday at 10, and ask her to send the agenda the day before.”
  2. CallMyDesk said: “To Sarah Okafor at Marlow Dental, subject ‘Re: Tuesday’. ‘Hi Sarah, Tuesday at 10 am works for me. Could you send the agenda the day before? Thanks, Priya.’ Shall I send it?”
  3. You said: “Yes.”
  4. CallMyDesk said: “Sent, and Tuesday at 10 am is on your calendar. It's in your audit log.”

What they do that this does not

For most of what people ask an assistant, the four big platforms do more, and you should use them. They answer general questions, write and translate, control your phone and your car, speak dozens of languages, and they are free or close to it. They have a screen, which is the right tool for choosing between six flights or reading a long document.

CallMyDesk does none of that well, and does not try. It is a business assistant with authorized access to your inbox, calendar, CRM and the web, reached by phoning a number. At a desk you will often reach for ChatGPT or Copilot first. Driving, walking between meetings, or if you simply prefer to call, this is the one that finishes the job.

Use ChatGPT Voice, Gemini, Copilot or Siri for

  • General questions, writing and translation
  • Anything you want to see on a screen
  • Controlling the phone, the car and your home
  • Drafting a reply you will send yourself later

Use CallMyDesk for

  • Sending the reply from the car
  • Logging the meeting in HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce
  • A brief on the account before you walk in
  • The 7:30 am call with the day's calendar and anything urgent

Three things that only matter if you are not holding the phone

Any phone. The assistants above live in an app on a smartphone, and in the car they still need that phone. CallMyDesk is a number. Call it from your cell phone over the car's Bluetooth, from a desk phone or from the office line, and it answers "Hello, this is CallMyDesk, your AI assistant." In the 33 states and the District of Columbia that ban holding a phone at the wheel, a voice call over Bluetooth is the one way to work the drive that is lawful everywhere you go. Set-up happens once in a browser; after that there is nothing to open or update. It is, plainly, an assistant you can phone.

Either account, and the CRM. Gemini works on Google, Copilot on Microsoft, Siri on Apple. CallMyDesk connects Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for mail and calendar and, on the Rep plan, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce, and uses all of them in one call.

It calls you. None of the four will call you at 7:30 am with the route, the meetings and the two emails that need an answer. CallMyDesk does, at a time you set, and again at the end of the day to ask whether you want to log the meetings you had. Those scheduled calls are part of the Rep and Team plans, included, not counted. It only calls and texts you because you asked it to. You say yes at signup, we text a one-time code to confirm it's your number, every call it makes to you opens with the CallMyDesk name and a number you can call back, and you can say "stop" at any time. Texts come from a toll-free number for now.

It is not a general assistant, it does not join your meetings, and it never calls your prospects. It is a one-to-one call between you and your assistant.

Where CallMyDesk is early

This is a founder-built product in early access, so the comparison should cut both ways. The platforms above have years of polish, every language and free tiers. CallMyDesk speaks English, is US first, costs from $119 a month, and today connects five systems, not fifty. Google Workspace is in early access with limited places while Google reviews our app; Microsoft 365 is the quicker route in. Replies take about a second in conversation and a few seconds when it reads your inbox or CRM, and it says so. Phone audio is not studio audio, so when it is not sure of a name it asks.
